Yemen Bani Matr

On August 14th 2020, Qima Coffee announced the discovery of an entirely new mother population that was previously unknown to the coffee world.

We bought half of this lot at the Yemen Coffee Auction 2020 on September 15th. Qima Coffee sources these beans directly from the Yemeni farmers and makes sure that they get most of the revenue. One of the farmers of this lot produces as little as eight kilos for an entire harvest.

The majority of them also used to work as teachers, before the political conflict in the country. For the past 5 years their salaries have been frozen and their income now comes solely from farming. Many of them still choose to carry the responsibility of educating the children of the village.
